The Future of Long Island City: A Conversation
February 18, 2025 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
5-25 46th Ave, Long Island City, NY 11101, USAThe Long Island City Neighborhood Plan (OneLIC), a rezoning involving 54 blocks along the East River industrial waterfront is set to be certified this spring. The City expects the plan to bring over 22 million square feet of total development, including almost 16,000 dwelling units and over 36,000 new residents to the area over the next ten years. The plan would also redevelop almost 600,000 square feet of industrial land. The 2001 Special Long Island City Mixed Use District rezoning, the last major LIC rezoning to be approved, spurred unprecedented growth in the Queens Plaza area over the past 15 years. The growth has strained area infrastructure, transit, and open space, and has led to a surge of high-priced housing. What can be expected to be different with OneLIC? What can the city, decision-makers, and LIC stakeholders do to ensure that enough new housing is within reach of area residents and infrastructure improvements are put in place to accommodate the expected growth? Join MAS for an in-depth, in person conversation about the future of Long Island City.

St Pat’s For All Parade
March 2, 2025 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm
The 2025 St Pat’s For All Parade!
We return once again this year to Skillman Avenue and the hospitable communities of Sunnyside and Woodside. We gather to celebrate our immigrant history and heritage, Irish and Celtic.
Here in New York, St Pat's For All joins community groups, unions, businesses, activists, schools, clubs, artists, musicians and dancers who, for a few hours, turn the streets of Sunnyside and Woodside GREEN. Hospitality is at the heart of this diverse and inclusive St. Patrick's celebration which each year welcomes all immigrant families and communities in Queens to join us, “cherishing all the children of the nation equally."
Music and remarks will begin at 12pm, and the parade will step off at 1pm.
